Having tried HSV 9-1-1 aprox 4 times, I can now comment on its effectiveness fairly (as you probably know, a lot depends on how fast you catch it and if you apply treatments AS DIRECTED!)....

For people who are 'on the fence' or who didn't have great results, I would suggest, make sure you use it AS DIRECTED! I.e. You really have to wet the end of the stick and you need to apply for 30 seconds and you need to repeat as directed!

Also, obviously, you want to catch it as early as possible but that's the same for all treatments.

Rinsing HSV 9-1-1 with water for 10 seconds will activate the compound. Apply it for at least 30 seconds and repeat using a circular or side to side motion with constant direct contact to the outbreak. Upon application HSV 9-1-1 immediately goes to work. Be sure to dry HSV 9-1-1 thoroughly after use as it is soluble if left wet. Whilst HSV 9-1-1 can be applied at any stage of the outbreak, the sooner the better. If applied at the very early stage the cold sore tends not to manifest. Unlike other products that need to be applied constantly, HSV 9-1-1 is very powerful, we advise only applying it once or twice per outbreak. Once SCABBING has occurred PLEASE DO NOT APPLY, let your body heal itself, otherwise it could encourage the scabbing process over and over again. Depending on the stage of the outbreak you may feel a stinging sensation during application, this is normal. HSV 9-1-1 leaves no residue so you can apply make-up or other skin care products with ease. Gels and creams will moisten the problem area which can cause more secretions which is not what you want, and in turn can lengthen the time it takes to heal the outbreak.....HSV 9-1-1 does not moisten the area, it actually helps quicken the healing process so your body can heal itself as fast as possible. If you catch the outbreak early enough it may not even manifest. Because you only need one application, you can literally apply once, and go about your day!
